Hi! Today I am going to do a short story. My cat passed away two hours ago, pray for her! May 17th, 2016 RIP Sassy the best cat ever, 17 years strong.
“Mom!“, I yelled. “Where is my hat?”, today is my third day back at school after being diagnosed with Cancer. It’s weird to see myself having cancer. I am scheduled to have chemo therapy in two weeks.
I walked toward the stairs as my mom tossed my hat down the stairs with a flick of her wrist. “Honey, calm down. It’s right here.”, my mom said with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
Everyday I have been wearing a hat, because I think people should get used to seeing me wear it. My mom thinks that I should show my hair while I can, before I’m bald with patches of hair.
Ever since the phone call from the doctor that confirmed my chemo therapy appointment, my stomach has been filled to the top with butterflies.
I hurried to the bus just in time, as I heard the usual “Squeak!” of the bus pull up at my stop. I got up the steps and hear, “Rose! Over here!”. My best friend was there keeping my seat with a grin on her face. That made my uncertainty and nervousness disappear. I had a feeling I was in for quite a morning.
“Rose you’ll never believe this! I made the team!”, Chelsea said as she bounced around in her seat. Sometimes it feels like we’re back in 5th grade when she does that.
Chelsea had dirty blonde hair, with blue eyes, and a sprinkle of freckles across her nose. She was amazing at Lacrosse and always made the highest team. While I, according to Chelsea, am good at swimming. We were both in 9th grade at River Hill High. I looked almost identical to her but my eyes were green, and soon enough my long hair would be down to none.
“Congratulations, did you accept?”, I asked eagerly. “Yes, only someone crazy would decline Rose. Are you nervous for your swim tryouts?”.
UH OH! I completely forgot those were this weekend! “Omigod thanks for reminding me I completely forgot.” I replied quickly. “What’s wrong? Ever since we came back from school you haven’t been quite yourself.” she said suspiciously.
Yikes, what’s my excuse???
“Tests, wayyy to many tests for me to handle.” I said not looking her in the eyes. “That’s a lie, I know it is. What’s actually going on?”
Thanks for reading this part of my short story, believe it or not I just wrote this now. Free writing. Enjoy the rest of your day!
